More boy racers

I was watching Paul Henry and John Campbell huff and puff last night about boy racers. I heard the exact same questions from both of them, the exact same sentiment that all boy racers are a social plague and that Police either needed extraordinary powers of shoot to kill or a massive kick up the bum to get them to police the boy racers. A terrified Transport Safety Minister, Harry Duynhoven, blinked a lot trying to excuse the Police and every other sin in the country, he explained that the cops had chased lots of boy racers, impounded 2000 cars and had pushed the separation of powers to their liberal democratic breaking point by giving the Police totalitarian discretion of immediate judge, jury and executioner.

All of which was about as enlightening as talkback radio opinion on the treaty gravy train, solo mothers having children just for the benefit and how hard done by white men are. It was just all so clear last night, Boy racers are irresponsible and dangerous and harsh punitive measures are demanded to deal with them.

Glad we got that sorted.

See I think that young men and speed have always been a problem, whether it was cars, horses, competitive hot air balloon racing – see there is a little risk taking circuit inbuilt within us all that forces us as a species to take risks, that’s why we are at the top of the evolutionary tree, it is within our nature to take risks, and we take the most amount of risks when we are young, because that’s what we do as human beings, we make mistakes as teenagers – THAT’S HOW WE LEARN. Now that is in no way a defense for young men to smash up public space or crash or kill people, but it is an explanation of the problem we face, and if we are determined to change the problem we have to understand why it happens. It’s all so painfully simple, and this is where the debate needs to start – with that understanding, not the usual ‘bloody boy racers’ nonsense. Exacerbating this truth of human teenage nature are 5 things:

1: Cheap Cars
Young men can get finance at the drop of a hat, they are sucked into the credit culture right from the beginning, probably following mum and dad into credit card debt. With 80% of the population earning less than $30 000, we are an incredibly low wage society with first world consumer addictions. This culture of debt brings with it loan sharks and things can get real ugly at that level of the debt chain. We want to start turning the issue around, crack down on easy cheap money with inanely high interest rates for teenagers.

2: Access to pop culture
We live in a 24/7 digital world, 8 year old kids can watch the fast and the furious, play computer games and generally desensitize reality. We have to accept the massive influences that can swamp young people, I’m not suggesting we attempt to ban the internet or force censorship, with an on line world, Pandora is well and truly out of the box and has moved down the road, happily married with 12 children. What we need to recognize is that parents have to from a very early age explain the clear difference between reality and fiction, which slides nicely into the third exacerbating factor…

3: Father and Son
Dads need to talk to their sons. They have to talk about how to handle those sudden surges and desires and anger and show their sons through their own behaviour. Fathers have to show their sons how to be men by preparing them for those moments where the brain switches off and the hormones take over.

4: Booze
Another exacerbating factor is our insanely accessible booze culture, the problem isn’t lowering the drinking age to 18, it’s that we now sell booze at every dairy corner and supermarket in the country and we don’t police those venders whatsoever. Every year community groups catch out over half the local venders not asking for age ID when a young person buys booze! We have turned on all the taps of accessibility by liberalizing our alcohol laws to a country with an obvious drinking problem and then can’t understand why our teenagers are drink driving.

5: Police
Which brings me to the final exacerbating factor, Police powers. Clayton Cosgrove, that Labour party Union thug who should be in the National Party (they have Police looking thugs) passed a knee jerk bullshit ‘boy racer’ law giving cops extraordinary powers of judge, jury and executioner. Generally speaking liberal western democracies steer clear of letting the separation of powers merge into one, and the resulting immediate roadside impoundment based on the non-challengeable discretion of the police has nothing whatsoever to do with police chases that end miraculously seconds prior to crashes from spooked teenagers attempting to out run an impoundment, and anyone who says otherwise is a communist.

But all that debate didn’t surface at all from John or Paul last night, they seemed much happier to whip the boy racer debate until it became frothy, neither wanted to understand why boy racers raced, they both wanted to be the voice of angry suburban NZ who are awoken at night to the alpha male muffler mating call of the late night neighborhood tom cats, partly worried it is their daughters they are prowling for, partly worried at what that sound might mean to their property valuations.

Meanwhile, the parents of the teenager killed this week buried their dead son.

It is not very often in fact very rarely that I agree with Bomber, but in this case well done for most of it. Ya got to remember through, it is the choice of the driver to try to outrun the law, and you cant outrun the law. Harry the worm wiggles out of every question and as for the Paul and John Show, Pathetic is the only word for both.
Look at the big picture, all males like a challenge.

Boys will be boys, boy racers or not. And there are a lot of girl racers out there too remember. I think at the end of the day, there's nothing much can be done to stop them racing their cars, they'll find a way around everything. Good idea about dads though - fortunately for me my 19 year old son has no interest in boy racing, in fact hasn't even got his licence yet!

I own a car that falls into the "boyracer" realm.... Meremere Champion drag way, is the place where during drag warz it can really go off, its not all of us the are the problems yet we suffer the same fate, the police are dogs, yeah they have a job to do but there push most "boyracers" to take off... I know you wont believe it, cause you think the police are angels... but in our world its true, so its not all choice ... cars can be impounded without racing, it all up to the police now... so what happen to "innocent until proven guilty"

The thrill of racing is the same .... some people pay $95.00 buxs to jump off a bridge, for me its $20 buxs 98 pump gas... the NZ import scene is huge, they will never stop it... illegal street racing in Auckland alone i have seen close to 150 cars in one night link up at the usual place...there are 58 different venues where it takes place and changes within seconds at the drop of one txt.... most carry police scanners so they are well informed... which is not illegal yet...
But if they build it they will come, a place for this activity to happen in a safe place, with no alcohol (i dont drink so dont care)
oh well thats my 10 cents worth...

1. Completely agree. Cheap, easy finance is a road to ruin, especially for the low waged and young. Kids need to be taught real world finances at school.

2. You assume that these youngsters have good parents/carers, this is not the case. True story, I once saw small boy of no more than 3 or 4 dancing and mouthing the words to some NWA song being played by his parents outside their house. Is it healthy for a 3 or 4 year old to listen to that? Also I have seen 'parents' buying violent and antisocial games for their kids in game shops. Is that not slightly irresponsible?

3. Again, you assume these kids have fathers or other positive male role models. More often than not, this is not the case.

4. Puritanical nonsense. How about teaching our young some self control rather than blame small dairy owners?

5. Lets leave your thinly veiled hatred of our police service out of this.

A few things that would cut our road toll and go some way to reducing the problem of boy racers:

1. A car is a privilege not a right. Make driver education much better. Teach defensive driving. Tougher penalties for motoring infractions.

2. Barriers to entry. Tiered licences, restrictions on engine sizes for young drivers and yes, compulsory insurance. Tax highly powered cars more.

3. Provide decent public transport alternatives.

4. More car clubs and safe racetracks for those boy racers really interested in cars.

Cheers.

Burrito..... I must say .... though you had some good points most was either a bleat or unrealistic..

1. A car is a privilege not a right. Make driver education much better. Teach defensive driving. Tougher penalties for motoring infractions.

So through growing up (according to this, we should only have the privilege of owning a car, have the privilege of spending our hard earns only on what the govt said we should... I thought the Nazi's lost the war? Teaching defensive driving is cool... but tougher penalties... Please.. the police have just way to many powers at their discretion to abuse already just to give them more... I mean to say just what other power or penalties can we add... "Shooting the boy racer on site"?

2. Barriers to entry. Tiered licences, restrictions on engine sizes for young drivers and yes, compulsory insurance. Tax highly powered cars more.

All of this is already done, the licencing structure, Learners- Restricted-Full yet nothing’s changed so what will the change it to and honestly would it make a difference.. Doubtful.. Most that have performance car have insurance and pay high interest anyway... NAC insurance asks for the first year up front which is about 1500-1600 but most pay it because if their car get stolen they get paid out... But the idea of high tax, on high powered cars is wrong too, it also shows just how much you all know about this... when the cars are brought engine size is a 1600cc through to 2.6l there not 5.7L V8's so high tax on cars that mum might buy, power only comes into it when there modified... so lets assume they restrict mods, how many business will that effect and the drop in the tax dollar... besides this, there would just be no way to control it.

3.Provide decent public transport alternatives.

UNREALISTIC what young person will hang up the Subaru keys for the bus... come on

4. More car clubs and safe racetracks for those boy racers really interested in cars.

There’s the answer, you won’t stop it at least add control to it.

Cheap,easy finance
Won’t change anything, again to many assume that these so called "boy racers" only get there cash from Mum & Dad or the money shop... There also them that work, but to try and stop loan shops forking out cash to young people, would just be to hard as these business need them to maintain a living....

Lets leave your thinly veiled hatred of our police service out of this.
I would change the wording in the paragraph to "your" police service... as I believe there is only a few that have any faith in these Rapist, Police Cultured, Bestiality watching NZ police... I think you will find it hard to get much help from them in any case.....Can they be trusted?????

Giving them a place to do this, controlled surrounding would be the best at the moment... refining can come later... suppression will just fuel the fight and push them into the alley ways to do their thing. which will result in more and more deaths...

With this privilege come responsibilities, unless you can prove you are responsible enough to own a two tonne piece of machinery that can reach 200kmh in seconds, which requires considerable skill to operate properly and can cause death, pain, death and misery to other road users and pedestrians in the blink of an eye then you don't deserve that privilege.

Oh, you are also not entitled to spend your 'hard earned' on fully automatic firearms or heroin. Would you like those freely available like high performance cars?

Teaching defensive driving is cool... but tougher penalties... Please.. the police have just way to many powers at their discretion to abuse already just to give them more... I mean to say just what other power or penalties can we add... "Shooting the boy racer on site"?

No, no shooting. But how about life bans for dangerous driving and drink driving even after one infraction. And custodial sentences for those driving without the appropriate licence.

All of this is already done, the licencing structure, Learners- Restricted-Full yet nothing’s changed so what will the change it to and honestly would it make a difference..

Yes it's done to a point but it really should be taken further, if you want to drive a machine designed for racing or speed on a public road you should have a level of training equivalent to that of a professional racing driver. Our current system of driver licencing is a joke in this regard.

Absolute nonsense. I know a little about cars. You're telling me there is no difference in performance between a 1000cc engine in Daihatsu Charade and a 2500cc boxer engine in a Subaru Legacy? In Europe a 2000cc engine is considered large and in some countries you are taxed more for owning a vehicle which has more engine capacity. This is exactly what should happen in NZ. Also you should pay more tax if you car has a turbocharger. This system would be trivially easy to implement. Making it financially unappealing to own a high performance vehicle is part of the solution (making socially and culturally unappealing are other parts).

A modest modern car with a 1600cc engine is more than adequate for pretty much all applications.

UNREALISTIC what young person will hang up the Subaru keys for the bus... come on

It should be a priority and a duty for our leaders and public figures to promote public transport and cycling over this stupid ingrained car culture (of which owning a car is equated with freedom is part) when have in NZ. Not just because of the safety aspects, but also for environmental and health reasons. Of course we need cars, but not to such an extent as they're used at the moment. People are a bit like sheep, make it "cool" to be concerned about these things and we'll eventually reach a critical mass. Oh yeah and bring in congestion charging and road pricing to help things along a bit.

Having dealt with the police in many countries around the world I have to say NZ police are generally polite, courteous, dilligent, hard working and really care about their local communities. Much more so than cops in Thailand, India, LA or Romania for example. Yes, there are some rotten apples, but cops are mostly decent people on a personal level. this whole vilification of the police is childish and creates a 'them & us' mentality which doesn't help matters, yes they have some problems institutionally but this is slowly changing as cop demographics change.

That's my experience and this is whole different argument so i'll shut up there :)

Such simplistic thinking hated.
Do you honestly think if you made burnouts etc.. legal the kids would stop doing it on the streets?

They do it on the streets precisely because its illegal and they know it pisses people off.
Thats the point.

For your example to work it would need a carrot and stick approach; provide them a place to do their burnouts (which they can pay for, and maintain), whilst having zero tolerance for any illegal activity on the streets.

But like I say it wont work because if its legal its no fun, and if its no fun then the kids ain't going to do it.

Anon go ask them what they wanted, Most of them said a place to this ...Drag racers, Drifting , burnout... its NO secret the council dont want that... do I think is will curv them all, maybe not at once thats true... but if 4000 attended out of 5000 would that be a big start, 4000 lives were saved that night, because there not pushed into the back alleys by the frigging council and foogezz like you anon... to do the illegal street drags.

But you will always have clowns that will screw it for everyone, thats the problem now, not all "boy racers" do burnouts in the street. As for the carrort effect anon, here in Auckland when Dragwarz are on, most nights you can have up to 4000 people turn up to such events. do the council help out shit NO it is local automotive business that put it together... WHY... to stop the young people do the illegal shit on the streets.

Why do people complain about shit they dont know Anon, is it just to fit in amongst the other moaners, is there like a moaning quoter to need to fill to get you star badge?

how much do you know about what your moaning about, your entitled to your opinion, but it would better served if you knew a bit about it, apart from what you see on TV.

It is so easy to suppress the problem, but its better to address it. I am not saying let them do what they want, I am saying give them a controlled place to do it safely, so your kids and there friends can come home afterwards.... what wrong with that?

The automatic machine gun thing, I would say yes too, but that’s only because I am a gun collector and un-like most, I choose to have a different outlook on guns. But your experience about cars is way off Burrito, The only car I have heard of and seen (on the TV) that could do 200km in seconds was a Bugatti Veyron I hardly think our local boy racers have a cool million each to splash out on such a car…. So let’s wait a moment until the effect of that RED pill wears off and you can come back to planet earth………………….There we go.NOW Why would anyone want to live under your conditions Burrito? Shit if we want to live that, why not just bring Martial Law and have everyone carries papers just to get to the public toilet. I feel sorry for you; you don’t even realize just how stupid it sounds. The privilege you speak of sounds like something prison inmates get when there good, so if we are all to be treated like that why would we need prisons.

No, no shooting. But how about life bans for dangerous driving and drink driving even after one infraction. And custodial sentences for those driving without the appropriate licence

Life bans and already being done, yet it does nothing, so they will drive without a licence, your method above doesn’t fix the problem it en-rages one. As for the training equivalent to that of a professional racing driver. a lot of these young people do have that training, most have NZDRA Sportsman Licence, shit I have that and track side time at Pukekohe… most into the import scene Burrito don't just leave it for the streets, they have track time, attend car events, some girls I have seen probably drive better than you.

Absolute nonsense. I know a little about cars. You're telling me there is no difference in performance between a 1000cc engine in Daihatsu Charade and a 2500cc boxer engine in a Subaru Legacy? A modest modern car with a 1600cc engine is more than adequate for pretty much all applications.

Again, your above comment shows just how much you know about the import scene, which is really fuck all, if other countries consider a 2L a huge engine then fuck off there and live, were your cries and moans and bleat, bleat fucking bleat… will be heard. Here in New Zealand NO ONE considered a 1600cc or a 2L a performance car until it goes through modifications, most mods are bolt on so no certification is needed. But a standard 1600cc Honda doesn’t quite cut it, it has potential but without mods it’s not much at all.

LOL Burrito you have way to much faith in our countries leaders to expect them to put any effort into the public transport, but there attempt to force people to use public for next year has come with a 10cent fuel rise, (haha) it’s funny because the import scene have been looking a alternative fuel for some time and now you can buy kits through Aussie for just that. But making it cool to ride public transport, is funny, and will only last until the crime wave hits that, with mugging and assaults. But I must ask Burrito, I guess you, don’t drive your car anywhere you take our cool public transport everywhere? Hmmmm, I am sure you don’t, so it is another case of, do as I say not as I do… you’re on the road to a great start. This environmental and health issue you raised, would it be due to the massive amount of fumes pumping out the back end of cars? How about trucks? and it is only the performance cars that contribute to this? All the trucks that dump out fumes, at car window level are just plan healthy then I guess huh. Modified Imports are tuned, serviced regularly so you won’t fine too much emissions coming from them. But yes they do contribute to a small percentage. Yet we don’t see much being done about trucks.

As alluded to above we need to change the car culture in NZ. Cheap loans and finance add to this car culture and make it easily accessable. Trying buying a high performance vehicle if you earn $30k a year without credit and have to pay rent.

To many loan shops and money shops will lose business and the unemployment rate will climb again if they close due to lack in business, Besides it’s the law, 18years you can get a credit card, shit and why not, at 15 you can start to get your licence and at 16 you can root for the first time and create life, if you choose. Again Burrito you don’t know shit about this car scene, so your comments are about things you don’t even know. Yes car yards NOW sell performance cars… but most buy cars that have the potential of becoming a High Performance car, which I easy to do if you earn 30K and without credit, I believe “High Octane” released a video which showed just that, 1 Honda CRX purchased $2200 made 126kw at the wheels (168HP) then they modified it, it then made 198kw at the wheels (256HP)… You really need to do your research Burrito before you bleat, it really looks dumb. As for changing Car culture, well I think that been an idea of the old foogezz for years, when V8 rolled out in the 50’s and 60’s now 2007 technology has made it possible to get performance from little engines, sorry but I don’t believe you will change it. In the future they could be modifing planes?

Having dealt with the police in many countries around the world I have to say NZ police are generally polite, courteous, dilligent, hard working and really care about their local communities. Much more so than cops in Thailand, India, LA or Romania for example. Yes, there are some rotten apples, but cops are mostly decent people on a personal level. this whole vilification of the police is childish and creates a 'them & us' mentality which doesn't help matters, yes they have some problems institutionally but this is slowly changing as cop demographics change.

Here we go, let’s not compare us to another country, as we don’t live anywhere else in this world, I said it before Burrito, fuck off and live there if you don’t like it here. But comparing us to anywhere else is dumb ass. Our cops are corrupt that’s plan and simple, you say “BAD APPLES” OK; if you have bad apples around the good apples, sooner or later the good apples become twisted, shit even Charles Manson cared about the community yet he was still a nut. How can anyone in New Zealand trust the police after the rape, brutalities, abuse of power, let’s not forget the watching of bestiality (which is illegal isn’t it) and what was done about that I ask? ”Completely NOTHING”. But you say they are polite, courteous and really care… well share that with their rape victims and the poor girls family, that are still searching for answer, as to WHY our polite and courteous police force sent their daughter a taxis, when she rung 111 pleading for help…
After seeing the police do these things, how does one feel at ease that if their 17-18 year old daughter was out and needed help; that she might just run into one or two of your bad apples? Are they changing Burrito?
Seriously I would like to know why they are still working there. But; because they have been caught it makes them better now? So what sort of rehab is that I ask? (Special NZ police Rehab) get caught and we are better now.
Yet while your tucked up in your cozy bed, we see the real police at work, breaching our human rights to meet, pushing “boy racers” to run “hassling them” searching their cars, for any reason… Yet across town there family violence, assaults, burglaries. yep I can see just how important it all is..
It is easier to create a place for this to take place a controlled area, if we live under Burrito’s ways we will need another 5 prisons built by 2009 just to put every that breaks the burrito law. Yet problems could be on the mend to prevent death and injury, by spending half that to build a place to do the drifting, drag racing and the burnouts, which has potential to create jobs and carriers for some of these young people…

That's my experience

I have a big problem with "give them somewhere to do it"-
give them somewhere to do what exactly?
Because there are already plenty of opportunities for car enthusiasts (very definantly myself included) to go and drag race (meremere dragwarz for example) and also plenty of track days at race circuits to "drift" or "grip" race - and all at reasonable cost.

Neither do I think that legislating against certain types of cars will make a blind bit of difference - the people who are causing the problem here blatantly ignore the laws anyway, and it will only serve to penalise the law abiding New Zealander who wants or needs a more powerful vehicle and who uses it legally.

I think that anon above put it very well:
"They do it on the streets precisely because its illegal and they know it pisses people off.
Thats the point."

Put the drinking age back up to 21 and get a driver's license at 18.That will stop 16 year old's getting on the grog and getting run over at wild, out of control party's.And stop the 24 hour liquor licenses and close all the bar's around the country at 4am or earlier like the council in Queenstown just did this week. That will sort the little scroat's,toe-rag's and mongrel's out there out matey!

If the do it because it's illegal then why do they turn up to Champion dragway for Dragwarz or Fast 4's and Rotary's or the Autosalon drag days...

I mean according to 2 anons they only do it because its illegal so why bother cruzn out to Meremere. But as we know Dragwarz ain't on every weekend now is it anon...

what about CHCH and other places, were they all suppose to come to Auckland.. No of course not... I dont believe they do it because it's illegal, well maybe 10% think like that, (in South Auckland) but I doubt all of them think this way..

Why do you do the car scene Anon?, for me its a rush, 10 sec 1/4 miles or drifting through a s bend at 180km.

No way am I making excuse for the tossers that fuck it up for eveyone, because this is how the boyracer this and the boyracer that got started...But if there was a place open every weekend it, may cut down the illegal dragz, burnouts etc, etc from taking place.. But for 10% that fuck it and get caught, well they have little excuse and the law can deal with them. But dont believe it should on everyone, just for a few.

in all of this debate about "boy racers " i never hear comment about the sheer POLLUTION these idiots cause. Ever seen a "burnout" ? Know just how many toxins are being fired up into our atmosphere when rubber is burnt ?( DOH thats why we're not allowed to burn tyres in our backyards) ..ever thought about the hundreds if litres of diesel that get poured over roads (and then runs into the ground) so these reatrds can burn their rubber ? Ever thought about the fossil fuels these people burn mindlessly speeding around in convoys of hundreds of gas guzzling cars ? And while we're at it ... I have rellies whose lives have been turned upside down by these convoys arriving in their area every weekend... the pollution doesn't end with the burning rubber and diesel...it extends to HUNDREDS of bottles , cans and takeaway containers thrown from cars to the point where after every weekend a COUNCIL TRUCK is sent out to pick it all up..it extends to the noise which has kept them awake EVERY weekend for 3 years until 2 in the morning..then theres the vandalism..then there's the tagging..the bottles and rocks thrown at cars which try to use the road they use...oh..and there's the $70,000 ratepayer funded fuckin burnout strip 2 km away which sits unused because " its no fun when its organise and why should we have to pay to use it ?"
As far as i'm concerned this group of youth is a MAJOR disappointment ..they care nothing about global warming or the environment..their "protest" is all " me me me " give me students marching down the street protesting war/rugby tours/ famine any day. Oil companies / tyre companies and the aftermarket industry must love this crowd of unthinking poluting playstation addled consumers !

Wow i wish you could run down to all the trucking companies anon and put for your cries and moans to them, aewel, about corpus amounts of disel that there trucks pump out on a daily basis; compared to to this burnt rubber over one or 2 weekends. because you do realise only 50-60% of disel in trucks gets burnt in the engine right..

Shit dont get me wrong enviromental issues is something thats important, but if you only going to cry about it, at the boy racers exspense why is that? dont all these other factors exist?

Drive around Auckland and watching truck after truck pump out toxic fumes at car window level are you trying to convince us that it only the sweet dear boy racer that contributes to the polution of our enviroment.

Sorry I am not convinced, partial blame yes but total blame. I doubt it..

actually i often DO have a problem with trucks...what an inefficient way to deliver freight .. up and down our country ..in many cases literally right alongside railway lines.... did i SAY only boy racers pollute ?.. I SAID that as young people they're a major letdown...but why am i surprised ?..they've been raised in times when NZ's credo has been "i'm ok jack and fuck the rest of you ".. when caring for others has been decried as 'pc" and woolley..when consumerism rules and cars are no longer a form of transport but a fuckin cargo cult .. they've been slumped in front of TVs and playstations breaking their thumbs playing games which include racing through city streets..BUT they've also been raised in times when awareness of the environment has never been so high and they think so LITTLE of this planet that their only form of entertainment is burning fossil fuels and rubber and making hideous noise ... the words "hillbillies" and "trailer trash " spring to mind ...and what's with the loud exhaust systems ? " i like loud cars and fuck the rest of you " ? or..is it as one commentator put it .." loud cars = little penises ".

LOL "cargo cult". That's so true.

Anyway, the 'boy-racer' dynamic seemed to change when the yoof could finance nice shiny late-model import tuners, rather than old Datsun Sunnys and Ford Cortinas.

The scene has changed thats for sure. It's rebellious but nearly mainstream amongst the younger crowd, if that's possible.

The issue is, that the generation gap just gets wider as the baby-boomer life expectancy gets longer.

The 50 and 60-something boomers that have their hands on the levers of power, they won't be relinquishing that power for another 20 years yet. Why would they?

Adolescence will continue to stretch out. Got that house yet? Got that responsible job yet? Half-way up that corporate ladder yet Mr/Ms 30-something?

Generation 'X' will be the first generation in history to have a worse standard of living than their parents...

Meanwhile, the yoof-of-today's (and tomorrow's) behaviour will become more and more intolerable to the boomer's hegemonic ideals. Watch this space...

Wow. HatedByMost I can see how you got your name. Here are my responses.

The automatic machine gun thing, I would say yes too, but that’s only because I am a gun collector and un-like most, I choose to have a different outlook on guns.

Quite a fan of penis substitutes aren't we? Trying to compensate for something? ;-)

I too shoot regularly but still think automatic weapons should not be allowed in the hands of the vast majority of the populace. But that is another debate.

But your experience about cars is way off Burrito, The only car I have heard of and seen (on the TV) that could do 200km in seconds was a Bugatti Veyron I hardly think our local boy racers have a cool million each to splash out on such a car….

Yeah fair enough. But you can still cause a lot of carnage at 120kmh don't you agree?

So let’s wait a moment until the effect of that RED pill wears off and you can come back to planet earth………………….There we go.NOW Why would anyone want to live under your conditions Burrito? Shit if we want to live that, why not just bring Martial Law and have everyone carries papers just to get to the public toilet. I feel sorry for you; you don’t even realize just how stupid it sounds. The privilege you speak of sounds like something prison inmates get when there good, so if we are all to be treated like that why would we need prisons.

Not what I suggested at all, but for a society to function in a healthy manner there need to be some rules and regulations don't you think? Leave the Libertarianzzz drivel out of it.

As for the training equivalent to that of a professional racing driver. a lot of these young people do have that training

Yes, but would you concur that most don't have such training?

Obviously motorsport enthusiasts are a somewhat different breed to a moron with a clapped out (but still powerful) Nissan Skyline who tailgates people on the motorway. I'm talking about these morons not *real* motorsport enthusiasts. These morons do exist. I know, I see them every day.

some girls I have seen probably drive better than you.

Quite a snidy, sexist little dig. Nice.

if other countries consider a 2L a huge engine then fuck off there and live, were your cries and moans and bleat, bleat fucking bleat…

Whatever. Somewhat childish response don't you think?

But a standard 1600cc Honda doesn’t quite cut it, it has potential but without mods it’s not much at all.

Hey, I'm talking about racing OK. I'm talking about road cars. A 1600cc Honda is plenty enough to get you to and from work or to the supermarket or for a weekend away. Big, powerful cars are obviously not for function, more for showing off.

LOL Burrito you have way to much faith in our countries leaders to expect them to put any effort into the public transport

I have no faith in NZs leaders. I would like to see respected people in our local communities and 'celebrities' try to make a switch too. Yes, it's unlikely but we can all dream can't we.

it’s funny because the import scene have been looking a alternative fuel for some time and now you can buy kits through Aussie for just that.

That's interesting. Can you provide some links?

I guess you, don’t drive your car anywhere you take our cool public transport everywhere?

I use public transport (buses) as much as possible. I also cycle a lot, but I do use a car from time to time.

Good point. But just because something else contributes to a problem doesn't mean that you shouldn't try and change your own behaviour. Two wrongs don't make a right.

To many loan shops and money shops will lose business and the unemployment rate will climb again if they close due to lack in business

Piffle. And quite frankly good riddance.

Besides it’s the law, 18years you can get a credit card, shit and why not,

Why not? How about beacuse it's easier to keep track your finances if you don't use credit card? Or so you don't f*** up your credit rating for important things like a mortgage in later life? Or so that you don't feed the corrupt international banking and credit systems that keeps billions of people in debt servitude? But, everyone needs to make their own informed choice of course.

You really need to do your research Burrito before you bleat, it really looks dumb.

No, I'm not an expert on car modification and yes it does seem somewhat pointless to me. But I care about not being killed on the road by a moron in highly powered car that they can't handle. That is my only qualification to comment on such matters.

As for changing Car culture, well I think that been an idea of the old foogezz for years, when V8 rolled out in the 50’s and 60’s now 2007 technology has made it possible to get performance from little engines, sorry but I don’t believe you will change it. In the future they could be modifing planes?

Perhaps. Cultures and world views can be changed though. People used to believe the world was flat, animals used to be exploited (yes they still are in places) for human entertainment.

Here we go, let’s not compare us to another country, as we don’t live anywhere else in this world, I said it before Burrito, fuck off and live there if you don’t like it here.

I travel but live in NZ. I was comparing our local police to interactions with police elsewhere. A valid comparison don't you think?

Who are you to tell me where to I can and can't live?

Our cops are corrupt that’s plan and simple, you say “BAD APPLES” OK; if you have bad apples around the good apples, sooner or later the good apples become twisted, shit even Charles Manson cared about the community yet he was still a nut.

You have a very strange worldview.

Anecdotal evidence, isolated cases. Tragic, yes, but bad things happen, complaining and whining doesn't change that, at least trying to make a difference does. Hey, maybe you should become a cop?

Anyway back on topic.

Actually, I can't believe I spent so long typing a reply to an obvious troll!

well well burrito the tone has changed somewhat from the "boy racer" this and the "boy racer"

but now I am a troll.... lol bomber these bloggers are just plan mean... excuse me burrito while I wipe away the tear....

I was going to play the you said I said..... but naaaaa its a waste of my time, being a troll that is, you know, all things considered... But I have one suggestion, Burrito, you should try to make personal contact with Peal Oil, as it seem Peal Oil thinks big muffles means little penis, of course you think a automatic weapons are a penis substitute.

You both seem to be slacking something in that dept, maybe it's
something you both could find a common ground in as sharing is caring...

Sorry if this offends you Burrito, but car culture is here to stay, you may stop one but you never stop them all.
