Palestinians blow up border wall, flood into Egypt

breakfast news comment
Palestinians blow up border wall, flood into Egypt
Tens of thousands of Palestinians poured into Egypt from the Gaza Strip on Wednesday through a border wall destroyed by militants, and stocked up on food and fuel in short supply because of an Israeli blockade. "Those people are hungry for freedom, for food and for everything," said an Egyptian shopkeeper who gave her name only as Hamida, surveying shelves emptied swiftly by Gazans paying with Egyptian pounds and Israeli shekels. The fall of the Rafah wall punched a new hole in efforts by Israel, under frequent rocket attack from the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip, to keep pressure on the territory in the face of an international outcry over shortages and Palestinian hardship.
I watched this live and they interviewed a Palestinian family who were just walking to Egypt so that they could ‘feel free’ – imagine that, walking through a hole in a wall just to ‘feel free’, the brutality and injustice of the Israeli 40year occupation has never been so acutely presented, the reality is that Israel has created two of the largest open air prisons in the world based on their paranoid aggression, watching a family having to walk through a hole to feel free has no justification.

maybe they would have had freedom if they had wanted peace. But NOOOOOO terrorists and suicide bombers reign supreme. When they cut that shit, maybe I'll give a damn

Maybe if Egypt were more concerned for the people living in Gaza they would have given them easier entry in the first place?

In any case, why is high population density a problem? Hong Kong is probably worse and its a success...

Just what the fuck are the Israelis so paranoid about? I'm sure if they tore down their barriers and opened their boarders it would all be sweet and all their problems would go away....

Palestinians achieve what the Jews never did – Resistance.
"For years local Palestinians have stared forlornly at the six-metre high skirt of grey concrete and corrugated steel erected by occupying Israeli forces to separate Egypt from the Gaza Strip. But the wall was blown away in at least eight different places and through the breaches swept a tide of Palestinians, ecstatic at the sense of release from Israel's swingeing blockade. From across the entire Gaza Strip all roads led to the border at Rafah, as lorries were crowded with people making the V for Victory sign with their fingers, sounding their horns and grinning from ear to ear. They all wanted to have a story to tell future generations of what they did on the day Gaza's Berlin Wall came down." Wow, they broke through Gaza's Berlin Wall into the freedom of Egypt!
Yippy Skippy! Did they have David Hasslehoff there to sing to them when they got to the other side? Thats a bit like breaking out of East Germany and into the freedom of Poland.

Have a read of this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jewish_resistance_during_the_Holocaust
Then take a little time to reflect on how laughably ill informed you are.

Rigg tells the strange-but-true story of these wartime German soldiers with Jewish roots. Based on interviews with more than 400 of these former soldiers, along with some statistical extrapolation, Rigg concluded that more than 100,000 such soldiers -- who were considered Jewish, according to Nazi racial laws -- served in the German military.

"Anyone know where Israel's borders are?"

Maybe you should ask brewer. My guess is that his answer will be in the Warsaw ghetto circa world war 2. He's a well know closet anti semite on this blog.

Israel, since its inception, has never declared its borders. Its so-called borders are “armistice lines” which reflect the result of military conflict. The only reason, for example, that Israel’s border with Lebanon is where it is, and not on the Litani river, is the dogged resistance of Hizbullah, which forced Israel to retreat to that border. Nevertheless, Israel has repeatedly, since 1948 till today, sent its soldiers and agents to act behind international borders, and has never accepted any legal limitation on its forces. The list is too long to cover here, but we can mention a few major signposts: the Qibya massacre (1953), the Suez War (1956), the attack on Samua (1966), the 1967 War, the Litani operation (1978), the 1982 war, and of course, the ongoing occupation of the West Bank and Gaza since 1967 to the present.

The Untermensch Syndrome: Israel’s Moral Decay
--------------------------------

The labeling as anti-Semitic of anyone critical of the state of Israel’s policies in the continued destruction of Palestinian identity and the increasing domination into American foreign policy no longer has the sting of threat or intimidation it once mastered. For too long this masquerade has been used to silence those opposing anything Israel, shouted at anyone disseminating truth and seeking justice. Like the boy who cried wolf, this charade has lost its power or hypnotic control, and today only serves to breed more anger and resentment against the apologists and smear mongers protecting the cancerous tentacles of Zionism and the crimes against humanity it spawns........

To be Palestinian Arab in the land usurped by European Jews is to be considered untermensch in the territory your forefathers once called home. The devastation fifty-five years of invasion, occupation and state terrorism has had on both people and land has created the conditions by which Gaza and the West Bank can today be called Hell on Earth, pockets of destitute emptiness where opportunity is extinct and any relevant future is a but a hollow fantasy.

Breakout from Ghetto Gaza

By Israel Shamir

They went out, risked their lives, rushed the army, overturned the fence, strode the barbed wire, wiped out the border between two states, committed so many heroic acts, worthy of great warriors, suffering casualties -- and when they were through, they went to shop and bought bread for their children. This gave a lie to the image of Palestinians that the Jews had tried to plant in world conscience: that of wild violent fanatics bent on rampage. Instead, the guys broke out of jail and bought bread. Meaning, they were kept hungry by their Jewish overlords. A stronger picture will not come soon from the Middle East than that of these family men carrying bread back home.

They are so normal, these Gaza, like you and me – they carry out their normal lives, they work in a bank or a garage -- but they get full medieval treatment. First, they were dispossessed and corralled into Gaza, then they were treated like even dogs should not be treated; they were not allowed to travel by a highway if the road is used by a Jew, they were not permitted to see their immediate family living only a mile away. And then, this siege. No food, nothing to feed the children with. No future, either, with Israel as the neighbour. They suffer for only one crime: they are not Jews, though, ironically, many of them are descendent of Jews, some with famous Jewish family names, who embraced Christ or the Prophet.

They were supposed to suffer quietly, but the Gazans have a lot of dignity. They voted for Hamas against the will of Israel and America, and they expelled the collaborationist gang of Dahlan. Now, they have rushed the fence, and that was a good example for all of us: nothing can be done within the legal limits our enemies had enforced. There is a need for the push that is called Revolution.

When the brave Gazans walked back, loaded with their lucky catch, with bread and rice, with salt and blankets, with vegetables and lambs, the Jews were decidedly unhappy. The natives will forget that we are like God unto them; we provide and we punish, we feed and we starve. Instead of accepting our doom, they took their fate in their hands. With bread and rice, the Gazans will smuggle guns, and this may force us to postpone the big offensive already agreed upon with George W. The Jews prefer to assail weapon-less victims.

Hegemony or Survival PART 2!

Saddams murder was a war crime, but Zarqawis execution was his own fault as he was a butcher, literally.Live by the sword, die by the sword. But someone should have told Bush, Blair; Howard and Ehud Olmert that as well.George W Bush AXIS OF EVIL retaliation for 9/11 started with the new "mission accomplished" fighter-pilot-draft-dodger May 2003 "victory" only 5 years ago.The new Gulf War was equally a one-sided slaughter his father started but would not or could not finish off.The term "War" hardly applies now as it is such an ongoing massacre of the innocents and has totally devastated and wrecked what is left of normal everyday Society.Bush may have committed gross human rights violations as a Sovereign head of state in the past few decades and he did help Saddam crush the Kurds uprising after the first Gulf War with the Presidents father the first Bush in the Oval offices approval after the war as he stood by and did nothing to prevent it, in fact some would say they encouraged an uprising because they couldn't finish him off then and there when they had the chance. With their Gas he was also free to commit more aggressive war-like atrocities against Iran even earlier than his intervention in the Kuwaiti Oilfields, a similar incursion by Bush in Iraq went unnoticed with the blessing of the weapons manufacturers in the West once again who supplied the arms to put down an Islamic revolution next door. However the heavy handed way "the peace" was controlled with the lies about weapons inspections and the strictly enforced U.N sanctions has meant that many Iraqis and their neighbours in the Middle East suffer the dire consequences of malnutrition and hardship especially the nearby neighbours in Palestine and in particular the Gaza Strip once again under Islamic rule. What has caused this spread of poverty in punishment for the ongoing Wars of the Bush political dynasty and their iron rule of Oligarchy over a so-called Middle Eastern tyrant just like Mubarak who locks up the opposition in Egypt where they are trying to appease the rowdy rock throwing neighbours now by securing the blown up border with the new fighting spirit to break free from a nightmare of being surrounded and fenced in like caged animals. The Palestinians lot.He may have held together for a while but Bush was as responsible as Israel for the awesome tragedy we witness on the evening news bulletins every night in Gaza and Lebanon which has become a home prison to break out of anyway you can thanks to Hamas freedom fighters. We are often witnesses to the bloodshed and carnage and wanton destruction through suicide bombing and roadside bombs as they are now called by troops in pointlessly armoured cars and 4 wheel drives blown up beyond recognition. For the Palestinian people the worst of all possible worlds has been realised from the illegal invasion and ongoing occupation by foreign powers close by as recorded recently of this War and its consequences by Hamas exiles.I am very critical of a form of green-zone inspired puppet-regime-politics after the illegal hanging of Saddam by Bush, Blair and Howard. They should be tried for murder in the Hague by the International Criminal Court along with the Israeli Prime Minister for his responsibility for 1200 civilian casualties in Lebanon.Washington, London and Canberra and Tel Aviv should have all been compelled to pursue diplomacy first and foremost instead of War which is illegal at the U.N.The U.N. Security Council which is in need of long overdue and relevant to the 21st Century reform washed its hands of Iraq and 2 separate Palestines just like it did for so long with the economic sanctions and cruel seige like mentality of the "Holy-Land" and they left it to the U.S. and U.K. and Israelis to go it alone in violation of the U.N. Charter to stop War.To put it in a broader context the U.N. became more obedient to Washington and London without more permanent members including Germany. The U.S indifference of U.N. instructions for peace and the U.S and Britain and Israels veto of Security Council resolutions against War with a weaker enemy the muslim world should end today.
