Big Brother Uncle Sam

Skip school, be tracked by GPS
Court authorities in Texas will be able to track students with a history of skipping school under a new programme requiring them to wear ankle bracelets using satellite technology. But one group is worried the ankle bracelets, with global positioning system monitoring, will infringe on students' privacy. Linda Penn, a Bexar County justice of the peace, said she expects about 50 students from four San Antonio-area school districts will wear the anklets during the six-month pilot programme. "We are at a critical point in our time where we can either educate or incarcerate," Penn said, linking truancy with juvenile delinquency and later criminal activity. "We can teach them now or run the risk of possible incarceration later on in life. I don't want to see the latter." Penn said students in the programme will wear the ankle bracelets full-time and will not be able to remove them. "Students and parents must understand that attending school is not optional."

Only in America hu? Children fitted with GPS ankle bracelets to combat school truancy, who would have ever thought that would ever be acceptable? It’s not so much throwing the baby out with the bathwater as planting micro chips under the babies skin and fitting the bath out with an eye scanner, isn’t the cure of a big brother GPS ankle bracelet actually much worse than the disease of truancy? Can anyone believe that there isn’t a better way to create trust than a GPS ankle bracelet? Fucking Texas!

Fantastic idea.

It's obvious that the parent's don't give a shit about the kid's education so it's time for the state to step in and make sure they do.

I can see bomber would be the kind of teacher kids would despise as a soft touch and have no respect for.

That's your conclusion to the issue of tagging children like animals with GPS ankle bracelets, that Bomber wouldn't do it and the kids would see him as a soft touch? My god Anon, grow up.

Grow up really?

Kids need a highly discipline environment to learn to become adults because attributes like self restraint and focus are required to excel in the real world.

Obviously I'm wrong and we should just give them a few hugs when they light up that splif on school grounds or beat the shit out of other kids.

Yes you need to grow up, if you think forcing children into global posistioning satellite ankle bracelets to combat truancy is the solution you have a lot of growing up to do. It's people like you who hand our rights over without a fight.

Really? You sound like a wife who has been beaten, not that knocked any sense into you with that smarmy mouth.

"It's people like you who hand our rights over without a fight."

Yet another whining liberal who wants all their rights and privileges without the responsibilities that go with them.

Um, if the kids don't want to be in school maybe theres a reason? Maybe addressing issues on a case by case basis, removing really problem kids from the schools so that they don't disrupt the other kids learning, taking timmy off of his crack head parents, reshuffling classes when combos of student/student or student/teacher don't work, etc, maybe if they looked at fixing the problems rather than band-aiding the symptoms and dumping the schools with the problem kids so that the non-problem kids educations and lives are affected,,, sigh I hated high school.

Way to prove NS right there anon. Lol. Beat any kids lately?

Kids are fucked in the head, truant kids even more so, and you want to just force them and put more pressure on them?

GPS is great for tracking exercise - I have just got one and love it.

We could see how far kids are walking and stuff, could be useful. I believe similar things are being used after a spate of children being taken from schools by kidnappers.

No one wants to be at school or work you fucking nonce when we could be at the beach. That's clearly self evident.

PS Which provision in the Bill of Rights or the US constitution does it say we have have right as children no to be tracked by GPS?
None so I assume you're talking out of your ass yet again.

Some people enjoy learning, your boss at KFC perhaps? Or maybe your warden? Also, look at your use of 'we' in that sentence, I'm glad I don't even know your name so theres no way in HELL I'd join you at the beach. Besides I don't like sand that much, gives me a rash. Of course I'm sure you'll ignore me and continue being a generalizing, angry, control freak.

I had no problem with being at school, I had to be there to keep out of trouble and learning things can always come in handy. It's the fuckwit teachers and students that fuck it up for the rest of us. Dickheads like YOU, mr Anon.

Seems fairly reasonable. This would only be used on some kids. Different kids need different approaches - some respond to the hardline approach, some need more nurturing. Worth a go if it gets some kids to stay in school and complete their education.

Maybe that's true, some of my professors at law school do enjoy the rarefied atmosphere of academia not that you'd know anything about it. Unfortunately entry on the beach, unlike law school, is tragically democratic and I would have to put up with inspid little bitches like yourself.
